Why You Should Start Shaving Your Face

Yes, you read that right. We are suggesting that you start shaving your face if you haven’t already. Although daunting at first, shaving your face can actually yield unbelievable results. Did you know that both Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor were big fans of shaving their faces? To kick things off, I don’t recommend standing in front of your mirror with the razor you use to shave your legs. When shaving your face, it is important to use a straight-edge-like facial razor on your facial skin. It’s also important to note that shaving your face is not a good option for people with extremely sensitive skin. If I haven’t scared you off yet, let’s delve into the many benefits (and the drawbacks) that come with shaving your face.

The Benefits

  • Your skin will be exfoliated
  • Your makeup will go on easier
  • You’ll remove all the peach fuzz that lasers and waxing don’t get
  • Better absorption and penetration of skincare products

The Drawbacks

  • You will get stubble
  • You might get ingrown hairs
    • Continuous use will keep your skin exfoliated. Having your skin be well exfoliated will help to prevent ingrown hairs
  • You might experience razor burn (especially if you have sensitive skin)
    • Wet your face then use shaving cream instead of soap to prevent this. Another tip is to shave downward a few time, then try upward to reduce irritation.
  • You need to keep up with it

Myth Buster:

My hair will grow back quicker and more coarse.

False. We have a certain amount of hair follicles in the skin and they will continue to grow in at the same rate and with the same thickness unless destroyed by lasers.
