There is definitely something to say about a woman who can feel comfortable with a natural look on her wedding day. Though we might all consider ourselves royal, it takes some real confidence to rock a royal wedding without the full coverage foundation, fake lashes, and the whole 9 yards of glam. So how did Meghan charm her prince into saying the words, “You look amazing” on their wedding day? With the freckles and the natural beauty of course. This was clearly enough to charm the 1.9 million viewers as well- as the au naturale Markle look is now trending globally.
According to her celebrity makeup artist and close friend, Daniel Martin- Meghan is said to have appeared wearing a dewy foundation, a brown smokey eye, a swipe of blush and a glossy nude lipgloss. Here are some of our favorites for “light and orangic” make up days that are both affordable and easy to find at your local drugstore!
Meghan opted for a light foundation that wouldn’t feel caked on but still corrected color without hiding her cute freckles. Makeup artists might rave about Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation ($65 for 10z) but we’ve found an alternative that wont break your wallet. Meet: L’Oréal Nude Magique Anti-Redness CC Cream. This is a color correcting cream (CC) that will neutralize redness but leaves you with your own true color. It can be found in the beauty aisle of target for less than $8!
So here’s the thing: a typical Dior smokey eyeshadow palette is priced at $65 and includes only 5 colors… These palettes cannot be found at just any store either. Meghan’s dear artist, Daniel is said to work closely with brands like Elizabeth Moss, Honest Beauty, and Dior Makeup. But little does anyone else know, some of these looks can be recreated with our drug store finds. Specifically Maybelline New York’s The Nudes Eye Shadow Palette. This beauty can be found at Walmart for less than $10. In each palette there are 12 colors to choose from- talk about more for your money. Not to mention there are four different options for the palette style which include deep dark greys, light pinks, nudes, etc.
You might want to consider spending the extra 12 on Markle’s favorite blush by Honest Beauty considering it prices in at $22. For the wedding she used the Creme Blush in Truly Exciting, $22. Yes, thats a cream blush. It may take a little bit more effort to put on but it pays off if you have dry skin and tend to wear make up for a full day. The color pigmentation in a cream blush is noticeably stronger and the package will last you long enough because with so much color, a little goes a long way. (Some say they occasionally dab some on their lips!)
Skip the deep nudes and reds. Markle is a simple gal so no one should’ve been surprised when she went for a peachy pale pink on her big day. Using her two favorite brands yet again Meghan created a satin-like effect that was neither glossy nor matte. The shade was so delicate that it appeared to have been tapped on lightly. Her look was brought to you by a combination of DiorLip Glow in Coral Glow, $34 and Honest Beauty Truly Kissable Lip Crayon in Sheer Chestnut Kiss, $18. Now, a combined $52 for lip care seems a bit pricey so lets look at another option and make it all natural too. Burt’s Bees has made it possible for us ladies to spend a fraction of the cost for the Markle look. Their satin lipstick is made with natural ingredients and sulfate- and paraben-free and found at target for under $5!
